Cos ser i cantar

Synopsis:
«Immersed in a tired and frenetic social context, obsessed by productivity and by the pressure for body and mind to live up to what is expected of us, we wander into the different ways of conceiving time and its relationship with the body. A state of attention, framed in a stimulating environment, that decomposes and deconstructs. A re-encounter of exhausted bodies self-demanded by individualism, but sustained by the collective»
Long piece ('55)
Cos ser i cantar premiered on December 4, 2024, at Teatro Talía in Valencia. It is a dance piece that questions the everyday tools we use to avoid acknowledging signs of exhaustion — especially among women. Through a poetic, pictorial, and fresh language, we rebel against constant alertness, the labor of self-care, self-management, self-exploitation, and self-help… instead valuing collective support, sisterhood, and the essential need to pause and simply be.
The piece explores the concepts of exhaustion and hysteria through movement and voice: immobility, incapacity, rest, effort, restraint, oppression, performance, struggle, power, care, and mutual support.
