Who are we?

Origin

Dunatacà was born in Valencia in 2016 with a total of nine creative artists who jointly develop different stage projects. These women are Blanca Arias, Julia Cambra, Raquel Fonfría, Charo Gil-Mascarell, Sybila Gutiérrez, Julia Irango, Luna Soriano, Andrea Torres and Mónika Vázquez.
Cia Dunatacà originally arose from the concern of these women for the support of artistic creation and the search for new scenic languages. Dunatacà was an emerging platform for the dissemination and creation of dance-theatre with the aim of investigating new contemporary stage languages. We defined ourselves as polyvalent women, restless and sensitive to the existing sociocultural reality, in order to transfer our concerns to the stage.

Andrea Torres
Cia Dunatacà is formed by Andrea Torres and Mónika Vázquez since 2019, when the project takes its current identity. This is a joint project of both stage creation, training and research of the body, the gaze and contemporary thought, sharing with other essential professionals to shape each project: Julia Irango, Vicky Leaks, Raquel Fonfría, Jrisa Lialia, Ángela Verdugo, Col·lectiu PenJa'm, Fent Estudi Coop.V., among others.
Individually, Andrea and Mónika have extensive experience as creators, performers and teachers in the field of the performing arts. Another factor to highlight as professionals is their collaboration with other projects in the performing arts’ sector in production, management, consultancy, distribution and communication.

The Company

The company's interest lies in art as a trigger for social awareness, which puts the body and all its possibilities at the centre. To this end, mediation and pedagogical work is combined with stage work in professional contexts. The creations contemplate concepts such as time, detail and care which, intrinsically, also form part of the methodology of their own processes, trying to approach them with coolness and irony to give rise to reflection. In addition, Dunatacà believes that, for the creative processes themselves, it is necessary to inhabit different spaces where to practice, share and give value to time. ‘De una tacada’ (Dunatacà) means “all at once”: the opposite of what we intend and consider ourselves to be.
For the creation of the previous works we have lived in various creative residences: Impuls a la Dansa, Sa Talaia Santanyí, BenAmil, Eilertsen&Granados Stamsund, Espai Xerea, among others.

"De una tacada" (Dunatacà) means 'all at once' or 'in one go' — exactly the opposite of what we intend to be and represent.

Dunatacà resides and generates its projects in Valencia, with a great interest in bringing it closer to its immediate surroundings, without leaving behind its national and international projection.

Over the years, the company has shown its work in many professional contexts in Valencia (Festival Dansa València, Russafa Escènica, Circuito Bucles, Cultura als Barris, Fem(me) Dansa and Graners de Creació, among others). In addition to its international projection in Germany, Norway, Mexico; and nationally (also forming part of the Circuito de la Red de Teatros Alternativos). During all these years, the company has received support from the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), Programa Acció Cultural - Ajuntament de València and INAEM; as well as from local entities such as the Residences for Young Local Artists of the Regidoria de Joventut de l'Ajuntament de València, the Residences for Creation of the Carme Teatre, Teatro Círculo Benimaclet or the programme of residences Graners de Creació. It has also been part of the programme Resistències Artístiques: Processos artístics en entorns educatius of the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana - CMCV, Secretaria Autonòmica de Cultura, Direcció General d'Innovació Educativa i Ordenació i CEFIRE artístico-expressiu.
