VOICES

Synopsis:
Elderly people are a forgotten group within our society. VOICES is a medium, through contemporary dance, to listen to the concerns, opinions, and desires of older people. Seniors have so much to share — their world is made up of memories, wisdom, experiences, music, and images that enrich all of us who take the time to discover it. Voices aren’t just heard… if you pay attention, you can also see them.
Full-length piece: 50'
Short version available: 20'
VOICES is a tender and metaphorical piece about old age and the passing of time, directed by Charo Gil-Mascarell. It reveals the universe of older people: their memories, stories, opinions and — above all — how they feel treated in today’s society. To do so, the piece draws on their memories, favorite songs, and films to give shape to that often silent — yet deeply enriching — world.

VOCES was part of the Creation Residency Program at Carme Teatre and was made possible thanks to the collaboration of elderly participants from the Municipal Activity Center for Older People (CMAPM).
